A Journal from Samara, CR

Written on 1/24/22

Ive always felt like everyone around me but me, has been to Costa Rica. Sitting here now I cant help but wish Ive came here sooner. From Jungles to beaches.. The most accurate way I can describe Costa is a very laid back Bali and I love it! I took a 2 hour and 30 min flight from Miami to San Jose. After that I stayed at a cheap Airbnb and the following day took an uber to the bus station. I purchased a $8 bus ticket but the catch was .. there were no seats, only standing room. Lets just say after that I am impressed with how low maintenance I can be. Not many people would do that. The first 20 minutes a kid was puking. Anyways, I met up with friends who I originally met in an airport and we had some awesome moments together. I really love Samara and could definitely see myself staying there. The cosado is .. oh my god.. And the chiliguaro shots.. Yummy but dangerous! If you're looking for a laid back but fun spot in Costa put Samara on your list. Also don't miss the sunrise.. Even if you are still drunk from partying at Microbar or a jungle rave. It's worth it! If you stay in the main street it can be noisy but it's nice to have everything a minute walk away. Another thing to add is that there are so many backpackers here and a ton of solo travelers. I honestly felt very safe here even walking the streets & beach alone.

Side note- Try skinny dipping once in Costa Rica
