Some of you may or may not know this but I just spent that last few months working in Guatemala. It started as a random trip and it soon became not only a home but a place that taught me so many lessons about myself and life. I usually write blogs about where to go and stuff like that but today I wanted to write about something else.
I want to write about the lessons I've learned from Guatemala that don't really have anything to do about the country but more so the people I met along the way.
In Guatemala I made some amazing friends, lost some, fell in love, and lost that also. It was truly an up and down experience.. but that's what traveling is for. I don't regret anything and I'm forever grateful for every good and bad thing that's happened to me. Each day I grow wiser and better, but man did some days suck.
Now for the lessons:
1.If you are not being appreciated, loved, or valued in any situation walk away from it. Your mental health matters over everything, especially over other people's feelings.
2. Just because you call someone your bestfriend, cry in their arms, and tell them everything.. doesn't mean they will be loyal. Be careful who you trust. Especially someone you just met. You guys might've hit it off from the first day but watch your back and have boundaries.
3. Even though you've been heartbroken and hurt doesn't mean you should shut out the world. Just because one person hurt you doesn't mean everyone else will. Let yourself love. Open yourself up. Even if it'll hurt you in the long run, let that wall down. So many amazing things can happen even if it's just short term.
4. There is so much of the world to see. So many people to meet. So many lives to live. Keep going. Be proud of yourself. Life really is good.
5. Sometimes people won't know your worth until you walk away from them. And sometimes you need to walk away for people to know your worth, but when you walk away .. don't look back. You'll be a lesson they never forget. Leave with a smile. One day they will regret it and one day you will be ok. Soon they will realize your value and by then you'll already know it.
6. You're romanticizing that person, stop it.
7. Manifest the shit you want. It will happen to you.
8. If you're living your dream life but you're still not as happy as you should be, revaluate it and change it. You deserve to be happy.
